We eagerly await their arrival, checking the yard, the birdbath, and the feeders for the first sign of these returning travelers. Some make a short journey from the southern US while others travel from the tropics of South America. They stay for a few brief months to breed and raise their young before returning to their wintering grounds. They are migratory birds - we welcome them to our yards every spring and enjoy their company all summer.
